Better Games Copenhagen was a project born out of my talent for QA in games, paired with the curiosity of player experience and playtesting.

Using my academic knowledge about games and qualitative methods, I offered user experience research in form of playtests, focus groups, observations, and diary studies to small and medium sized game development studios in the larger Copenhagen area and beyond. After a tough but instructive battle with a certain pandemic, I shut down the company in 2022 after I accepting a full-time position in the industry.

Trolling Trolls is (will be *cough*) a website that enables users to search for content on Twitter. Using Zero-Shot NLP and tweepy, the website identifies offensive and hateful content contained in discussions surrounding a user specified search term.

At TechLabs, I obtained my “Digital Shaper Certificate” by completing a 60-hour Python and machine learning course, and by creating the Trolling Trolls project. I was involved in all parts of the backend python script (twitter API access, pre-processing, visualization, and NLP analysis).

The project received the “Best Project” award at the final presentation event.

At the time junior scholars ourselves, my colleagues Curtis Maughan, Federico Alvarez Igarzábal and I noticed a lack of places for upcoming scholars to attune to the academic landscape and profession. Over a beer at sunny Reffen in Copenhagen, the birth of the Young Academics Workshop was decided – a place for junior scholars to gain experience.

Now in its eigth year, we were able to welcome renown scholars such as Chris Ferguson and Isabela Granic as guest speakers.
On top of that – and thanks to the generous support by the Cologne Game Lab and Gundolf Freyermuth – we were also able to publish the proceedings of our first workshops (2017+2018 and 2019+2020) in two anthologies.

The Ørestaden Spartans are an American football team located in north east Amager. I joined the Spartans when I arrived in Copenhagen twelve years ago and they quickly became my Danish family. I played for 10 seasons and started coaching them in 2020.

Since then, we’ve reached the play-offs every year (with one exception). I started as offensive line and running back coach. After the 2021 season, I went back to my original position as coach for the wide receivers.

I value American football as an extraordinarily inclusive sport that requires both physical and mental capabilities to excell in it. The sport is without a doubt one of the best things that happened in my life. I made life-long international friends, learned to be persistent and goal directed, and how to learn from mistakes.

During the 2022/23 season, I incorporated a more data driven approach to play calling (choice of micro-strategies during a game). I gathered data of previous seasons and visualized correlations like yard per play, play type, formation, etc. In the future, I would like to expand on this approach through more detailed data gathering, such as the specific personel on the field and the defense formation.

My probably most neglected project is Tilt It! In late 2020 I started tinkering around with Unity to create a game where players must navigate a ball in a spherical track into a hole.

After learning a lot about rotation mechanics, the gimbal lock and quaternions, development came to a slow halt.

It’ll be released together with Star Citizen.
